Running: What’s a Chakra Got to Do With It? The 3rd Eye Chakra
The next Chakra up in our “Running: What’s A Chakra Got To Do With It?” series is the Third Eye Chakra, which is the 6th Chakra. The 3rd Eye Chakra is located just between the brows.
This Chakra is responsible for our ‘third sight” and intuition. This Chakra allows us to have clarity of thought both in our physical life and spiritual life. The 3rd eye is all about having a clear vision both in your physical and emotional life.
Thus, many of the symptoms of the 3rd Eye Chakra imbalance have to do with your physical vision or your intuitive “vision.”
What are the physical signs of an unbalanced Third Eye Chakra?
Frequents and/or Reoccurring Headaches
Eye Diseases such as Cataracts, Glaucoma, Astigmatism, etc.
Tumor and/or Brain Cancer
Near or Far Sightedness
Sleep Disorders
What are some emotional signs of a Third Eye Chakra Imbalance?
Lack of clearheadedness or insight
Feeling as though you are unable to manifest your desires
Feeling scattered or “in the clouds” (this is an over-energized 3rd eye)
Fear of living your true path or being your true self
Extreme Materialism
Fear of moving forward
Feeling stuck
What are some ways to balance my 3rd Eye Chakra?
The color indigo resonates well with this Chakra, so this week I am going to introduce you to the “Chakra Color Moving Mediation” to balance this Chakra. This meditation can be done while running, hiking, walking, or sitting in a chair with both feet planted on the ground.
Chakra Color Moving Mediation
As you are running, bring your attention to your heart center. Visualize a white light going down through your legs and out your feet dissolving away any discomfort or tension. Be aware of any energy or feelings this brings. Feel the white light leave the bottoms of your feet, going down into the ground. It enters the earth, goes deep into the earth’s core, and wraps around anchoring and grounding you
- Next, bring your attention up to your crown. A white divine loving light comes down from the sky and enters the crown of your head, dissolving any energy or feelings not useful to you at this moment. The white light moves down to your neck, through your shoulders, arms, and hands. It moves until it has merged with your heart center.
- Now, we are going to bring in the color for each Chakra. Stay at each Chakra as long as you need to and then move on.
- Bring your attention to your Crown Chakra, at the top of your head (we will cover this next week). Fill it with white, pure, divine color.
- Next, bring your attention to your 3rd Eye Chakra, fill it with indigo.
Bring your attention to the Throat Chakra, Fill this Chakra with blue.
Bring your attention to the Heart Chakra. Fill this Chakra with green.
Bring your attention to the Solar Plexus Chakra. Fill this Chakra with yellow.
Bring your attention to the Sacral Chakra. Fill this Chakra with orange.
Bring your attention to the Root Chakra. Fill this Chakra with dark red.
Lastly, picture a beautiful golden light surrounding you.
Next week we will talk about the last Chakra in our series: The Crown Chakra. Until then, Happy Running!
